Whether rescued from breeding farms or abandoned by their owners, stray dogs and cats share a common wish: to find a caring owner and a happy forever home where they will be loved. In Hong Kong, according to the figures from SPCA 2019 annual review, about 5,000 animals are rescued each year but only less than 2,000 of them are adopted. With International Homeless Animals Day being on 15 August, we are more than happy to be partnering with the Hong Kong Saving Cats and Dogs Association (HKSCDA) to help spread awareness about the importance of supporting adoption to save lives.
As our riders are a common sight on Hong Kong streets, their rider bags have ample opportunity to provide more visibility to cats and dogs in need of adoption. Our riders are eager to do their part to ensure that Hong Kong's stray dogs and cats can find a new and loving home in the neighbourhood. To do their part to support this meaningful cause, we have produced a variety of stickers with photos and information of the animals who are up for adoption, and have riders display them on their delivery bags between 10-23 August.
In addition to the friendly pet faces for adoption, the stickers also include the names, genders, and personality types of each animal. Smartphone users can scan the QR code displayed on the stickers to learn more about the adoption information, or simply how to support HKSCDA via online donations. Over 200 of our Deliveroo riders have registered to-date for this heartfelt charity campaign.
Have a look at these adorable animals!
