Introducing Our Chinese Name - 戶戶送

The wait is over- today we're super excited to reveal our official Chinese name - 戶戶送! The name is pronounced as "Wu Wu Soong" in Cantonese and "Hu Hu Soong" in Mandarin. In Cantonese, "Wu" actually sounds just like "Roo", which is a key part of the original name that Will Shu and Greg Orlowski chose for the company over 4 years ago - Deliveroo!

Wondering what 戶戶送 really means? In Chinese, "戶" means flat / individual unit, both office and residential. "送" means delivery. So when you combine both words, they literally mean "delivery to every single household". And there you have it - that's exactly what we strive to do every day.

"Being ingrained in the local culture here in Hong Kong, we realized it is important to have a Chinese name that is easy to pronounce and remember," our CEO William Shu said. "This is a huge move for us. We would like to take this chance to emphasize our commitment to be the best local delivery service in Hong Kong, as well as to show our love to the city."

Hope you like our new name! On the other hand, our service will be launched in a couple of new areas very soon. Be sure to stay tuned for our upcoming blog posts.
